US and Canada growth struggling, a 6% growth was the low point for Netflix back in Q1 2022. This quarters 2% makes that 6% look pretty amazing. So yeah, particularly concerning in the US and Canada just 2% and supposed to be one of its more lucrative markets.

So the biggest is retail, which is going to grow at a pretty whopping 17% ad spend this year. And that's driven in part by the economy and in part just by, it's a deeper investment in ad networks and video and things like that. So just pretty strong growth in retail.

In Canada, it's nine in 10 people in the population. This is a really, really valuable piece of advertising real estate. By the same token, CTV ad spend is beginning to slow down a little bit, so I think this is one area that could help keep it buoyant for a little while longer. I don't think it's going to be revolutionary in any way and the needle won't fly, but it will do enough.

I think that pennies at the minimum should be taken of commission at this point in countries like Canada, New Zealand and Australia have already done that. So there are no more pennies in their currency. And it's also due to the fact that the US Mint spends over $700 million making coins every year, which is just such a waste.

I would say if we're playing the speculative legislative angle here though, we should also look at what's going on in Canada where there is currently a fight going on between Google and its Congress over whether or not Google should have to pay news organizations in Canada for licensing its content. And Google has responded to this pressure by simply taking news out of its search results.
