Spotify has been gradually raising its prices, and boosting Premium features is a smart way to keep listeners from downgrading their subscription level or moving to Apple Music.

The iPhone 16 might be the Apple handset built around AI, but many of its highly touted Apple Intelligence features are still pending, and AI features aren鈥檛 planned for the EU or China. iPhone and Samsung鈥檚 Galaxy phone designs have stagnated with yearly incremental upgrades in the same candybar phone factor. The caveat: Foldable phones are notoriously fragile.

Apple and other game developers have adapted after a rocky start. Some demand-side platforms (DSPs) and small ad networks still use probabilistic IDs based on device attributes鈥攁 process known as 鈥渇ingerprinting鈥濃�攂ut this is risky, since Apple may clamp down on the technique.

Apple will roll out a demand-side platform (DSP). The tech giant has been advertising for high-level DSP positions since at least mid-2022, so it seems just a matter of time before this happens. A DSP would confirm Apple鈥檚 ambitions to become a bigger advertising player.

To further its in-store push, Zip is in talks with Apple to integrate its offering into Apple Pay, Zip CEO Cynthia Scott said during the company鈥檚 earnings call. In June, Apple shut down Apple Pay Later and will offer third-party BNPL options like Affirm instead. Appearing on Apple Pay would be a large opportunity for Zip to increase its users鈥� transaction frequency and in-store transaction volume.

The Indonesian government requested that Google and Apple remove Temu from their app stores in the country, a pre-emptive move to protect small and medium-sized businesses. (Temu can鈥檛 operate in the market.).

What punishments could Apple face? Multibillion-euro fines in Europe. New legislation could force Apple to open up access to its NFC chip, which could give smaller rivals a boost while denting the dominance of Big Tech firms鈥� payment platforms.

Transitioning to the second-generation M2 Apple Silicon chips, Apple seemed to be coasting on the demand for new MacBooks and desktops. Our take: We鈥檝e seen the end of the pandemic鈥檚 PC boom, when the transition to remote work and learning fueled unparalleled demand and led to notebooks, desktops, and peripherals like cameras being in short supply. There is a potential for a rebound in the PC sector.

And it can help sway Apple Pay users to make the switch to Google, especially when Apple opens up its NFC tech and lets iPhone users switch their default mobile wallet.

Apple rounded out the top five with 19%. The affinity for Big Tech firms as banking providers is even more pronounced among digitally native Gen Zers. 42% of Gen Z consumers surveyed in our Gen Z and Banking report listed PayPal as their most trusted banking partner, followed by 32% naming Apple.

Big Tech companies like Meta, Google, Microsoft, and Apple have expanded genAI functionality across services and platforms, often free of charge. The caveat: Pure-play AI competitors like Anthropic, Perplexity, Hugging Face, and others offer similar solutions, giving OpenAI鈥檚 customers a wide range of alternatives and increasing pressure on ChatGPT Plus to continue innovating.

And for the fourth consecutive year, Apple Card, issued through Goldman Sachs (at least for now), ranked highest among co-brand credit cards with no annual fee. Behind it were 鈥嬧�婬ilton Honors American Express Card and Costco Anywhere Visa by Citi.

A shift in perspective: Analysts initially expected the trio to announce a new extended-reality (XR) headset, similar to the Apple Vision Pro or Meta Quest, but glasses will likely have a broader reach and more use cases. Rather than covering your eyes with a clunky headset, they could take the place of prescription glasses or sunglasses.
