So six years later, credit cards had taken the crown going from 18 to 31%. Debit cards were still second upper touch with 29%, and cash had fallen from 31 to 18%, landing it in third place.

That's true, but I think they have a good share of credit card and debit card spending as well and one of their savvier partnerships recently has been with Amex to credit the Walmart Plus fees back to Amex platinum members.
