In 2024, 蘑菇AV data partner GWI started offering data on respondents ages 65 and older in seven markets: the US, the UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Israel, and Japan. For ease of comparison, our report features data for respondents ages 16 to 64 in all countries. But we have included the data for respondents 65 and older for those seven countries here as a supplement.

The triopoly鈥檚 share of ad spending in Canada is much higher than in the US and UK. Google, Meta, and Amazon make up nearly three-quarters of Canada鈥檚 digital ad market. That鈥檚 much higher than in the US and UK. In smaller ad markets like Canada, local publishers have a more difficult time competing with foreign tech giants.

Sistrix data showed that search visibility for 33 of 70 leading news publishers in the UK declined by double digits following that update. And more than half of the top 15 news publisher sites in the US saw their search visibility decline. While the March 2024 update did stamp out some sites that leaned hard on AI to generate their content, it also punished many sites that did not.

The feature is available to customers in the US, Germany, Italy, and Spain and will launch in the UK soon. Why this can work: While extremely popular for checkout, PayPal wants consumers to spend more time in its app and use more of its products and services. To do this, it鈥檚 launched new features like PayPal Smart Receipts and Cash Pass.
